Flashback Friday:So that's what they've been up to!

My In-laws live next door. Well, a few acres over, so not right next door, but they are our closes neighbors. In between our house and theirs, is the donkey pasture.

Several years ago (2006), my mother in law decided that she wanted to get a couple of miniature donkies as pets. So, she fenced off some pasture and purchased two "pregnant" donkies. It turns out only one ended up being pregnant. But, that didn't stop her from buying three more!

So on the farm there are 5 Jennies that were bought and over the course of time, 6 baby jacks and 1 baby jennie have been born.

In the past two weeks, we have been blessed with two more baby jacks!

And Bochepus was born Monday April 5

So my in laws are country music fans. When the first baby came along, my mother in law wanted a theme for her farm. So, they decided to go with country music names. Not necessarily singers, but just common words from songs or songwriters.

First there was Poncho, then Lefty

Then Conway, Delta Dawn, Waylon, Hootie (Darius Rucker.. get it...), and then Possum (George Jones), and Bocephus (Hank Williams, Jr.)

They are cute little fuzzy creatures. They are social. They come to the fence when you walk by. They play out in the pasture. They he-haw at dinner time!

Just don't ask me to tell them apart. Most of them are grey, and look very similar. I'm sharing again as part of Jen's Flashback Friday.

I'm post dating this post so it gets up for all my loyal readers, but Jen I hope to link up later in the day when we get back from fishing!

But, you can always use my link to check out how everyone else Flashed Back!

Flashback Friday: I'm engaged!

We're approaching the 3 year mark of my engagaversary. March 6, 2008 Gene and I made the ulitmate decision to become husband and wife. This was a special day for us, because it was the anniversary of JJ's homecoming.

For his special day, we decided to plant the cedar tree Gene had given me for Valentines Day. (Romantic huh, its the gift that keeps on giving. I love it!) Once we got home from work, JJ and Gene set out in the yard to get the ground ready and I started to work on dinner, and pack for our upcoming trip to my parents house.

After a while, JJ came in the house asking if I could get the camera and come take pictures of him and the tree. I really didn't think anything of it, because we take random pictures all the time. After all, it was his special day, lets take some special pictures.

So I head out there and I tell Gene and JJ to get near the tree first. JJ is acting goofy, but what 6 year old doesn't in front of the camera.

Then it was mine and JJ's turn. I'm all smiling, clueless to what's about to happen.

see that little blue sparkle above JJ's head, that's my ring... right there... I'm oblivious!

So, JJ and I are done, I stuff the camera in Gene's face. He gives me this look...

Then he hugs me and tells me how much he loves me. I reply the same. Then he reaches over and pulls the ring of the branch and asks me to be his wife. JJ errupts into extreme excitement. Of course, the answer is yes. But I was mostly concerned where the ring came from. I had no clue a proposal was coming. I mean, I knew it would eventually happen, but financially I didn't think a diamond ring was in the budget.

JJ then took our photo, the happy couple...

March 6 is a special day for us. Not only is it the day JJ got his forever home, its the day we became a forever family.

So, I was bad and forget to link up to Jen last week. I was away from the computer all day and thought of it Saturday morning. But today, I'm linked in. So go check out more Flashback Friday posts over at 526,000 minutes.

I'm going to get a tissue now because I'm sappy like that.

Flash Back Friday: Dream House

4 years ago, our house looked like this!

How did I ever live through the renovations. This looks like a disaster, but we were so happy with it at this point. This is several months into the renovations and we would move into the house for another YEAR!

This is what the house started out looking like.....

This is Gene's Grandparents house. It has always been Gene's dream to renovate it and turn it into a beautiful bungalow.

This is what it looks like now (or at least last fall.. .not many changes to the outside lately)

I loved watching Gene's dream come alive! I love our house, and I think he did a fantastic job!

Flash Back Friday: Playing Putt Putt

We've been vacationing in the mountains for six years now. Every summer, JJ wants to do the same thing... play Putt Putt, aka Miniature golf. And he doesn't want to play once, he wants to play every day. Thankfully, we have figured out which courses are worth it and how to get the most play time with the least effect on the old wallet.

Here's a picture from 3 summers ago. JJ was six, about to turn seven.

Here is from this year, JJ is about to turn 9!

He looks so big! I can't believe how fast he has grown. He probably still is wearing the same shorts he did three summers ago. The kid only grows vertically, which is a GREAT thing. He's so athletic, he's nothing but muscle.

Here is another then and now from the same summers:

I love my boys!
