Travel

This weeks theme at In A Yellow House is Travel.

This is a photo from our trip to Amsterdam. We, Gene and I, travelled there for work. We took an afternoon and travelled out into the countryside to see some working windmills.

They had several of these original windmills set up that you could go into an explore. The sky was the perfect backdrop for these bright green structures.

Summer Fun

This weeks Trendy Treehouse theme is Summer Fun.

I couldn't help but think of this picture when I thought of the theme.

This is JJ and my dad playing in the pool for father's day. This is how my dad and I spend my summers growing up. I was a fish and he and I played for hours in the pool.

It makes my heart melt that my son and my dad have the same bond.

My First "Shoot"

Gene, my husband, asked me this weekend to take some photos of his newest product. He designs wooden pocket knife kits. We have taken photos of his other products, but this was the first time I did it by myself and with my new Tamron lens.

He set me up a corner in his workshop. We hung a backdrop and some lights. I got to work, snapping away. I think we came out with enough good ones.

Here's what I did:

{I heart faces}---Pets

I heart faces this week is all about pets.

I love my pet, my 2 year old Border Collie, Woody.

He's super smart, always happy to see me, obedient, doesn't mindlessly bark... he sheds up a fur storm, but I still love him (even though I curse him every time I see fur balls right after I just swept)

This is one of my favorite photos of Woody. This was taken in his first snow fall. This was also taken with my little ole' point and shoot. I got my DSLR later that week after being disappointed about the other snow pictures I took. But this one got me, he rarely looks at the camera, but I was able to get him too... at that one minute.

He loved the snow, as evident in his snow covered body. He liked trying to catch snowballs the best. He didn't understand why they would break apart when he caught them in his mouth.

Water

In a yellow house's theme this week is water.
I took this picture when I was visiting in Charleston a few weeks ago.
My brother and I use to play in this fountain when were younger. Its the sundial fountain at Waterfront Park.
I wish I was able to take more photos of it, but I made a rookie mistake and forgot to bring a backup battery.

Talent

Paper mama's challenge is all about talent.
Who has more talent than my wonderful soccer star JJ? I just love his expression in this photo. He is all intensity... all the time.

POTW: Summer

Here is my Post of the Week entry. This week's theme is summer.

These are JJ's hands holding all his delicious treasures! We are so thankful to have tons of blackberry bushes right in our backyard.

A Little Birdie...

Gene called me outside last night to check out this cute little bird in the yard. He really called me out there because he knew I would want to photograph it.

Here's the little bird, looking at me like I'm a fool.

Here's a zoom of its little eye... that's me in the reflection

Jumping on the Bandwagon!

I've decided to create my own photography blog. I have a family blog... but it didn't seem the place to AW all my photos.

Plus, I really want to participate in photo challeneges, and most need to be blogged.

Hopefully I can keep up with this!
